Artists take 37 medals in VASE competition

Thirty SHS artists took 37 medals at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) at Frenship High School on Feb. 18.

“I am very proud of the hard work and effort the students put into the competition, and it clearly paid off,” art teacher Brice Autry said. “This is an outstanding group of students who take pride in their work. This is only the third year we have competed in the VASE competition, and each year gets better and better. It is a great learning experience for us all, and I am so very proud of all of the students who competed.”

Students who earned two medals include: senior Kayla Coon, sophomore Morgan Guffey, senior Ayla Johnson, junior Dexter Longley, senior Allison Reimer, junior Vanessa Sellers and senior Madison Wood.

Students who earned one medal include: junior Ashley Blair, senior Jack Cagle, junior Cera Castillo, senior Idalia Castillo, junior Camila Concha, freshman Jessica Edwards, senior Brianna Evjen, junior Johnny Fehr, sophomore Crystal Flores, junior Luis Galindo, junior Haley Gann, senior Andrea Garcia, sophomore Logan Gersbach, sophomore Elora Johnson, senior Waldo Klassen, junior Betty Loeppky, junior Donavin Navarro, junior Martin Ponce, junior Isaac Rangel, junior Maggie Savage, sophomore Chase Summers, junior Jaqalyn Wiebe and sophomore Nancy Wiebe.
