Indians to play area championship on Friday

The Indians will face the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes in area action at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Odessa College.

The Tornadoes defeated Pampa, 57-55, in a bi-district matchup in Plainview on Feb. 21, to advance to area.

Four forensics team members qualify for nationals

Four forensics team members qualified for nationals in Indianapolis, Ind., in June based on their competition at the National Forensic League qualifying meet in Big Spring on Feb. 18.

Qualifiers include sophomore Jadon Hatley and senior Mason Griffin in duo interpretation, senior Haylee Dodson in original oratory and senior Jasmine Torres in dramatic interpretation.

The entire team took the leading chapter award, which is given to the school which has the most success during the past year.

Maidens to take on Cooper in area game

The Maidens will face Lubbock Cooper in the area championship at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 at Lubbock Christian University. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students.

The Maidens took the bi-district title over Clint, 38-20, on Feb. 10 in Alpine.

Indians take third consecutive district title

The Indian basketball team clenched its third consecutive district title with the 54-46 win over Monahans on Feb. 14. The Indians have won 28 consecutive district wins and take an 8-0 district, 20-7 overall record into area playoffs next week. The Indians will play a practice game with 3-2A district champion Colorado City at Lubbock Estacado High school at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 18. Tickets will be $7 per person.
