One-act play advances to area in last stage of UIL academic district meet

The one-act play “Golden Boy” advanced to area competition along with Andrews and Shallowater after district competition on March 27.

Senior Jadon Hatley was best actor, and junior Madison Burtch was best actress. All-star cast included sophomore Blayne Childers, while senior Shawn Barndollar was honorable mention.

One-act play adds 46 points to the 264.5 points already scored by the rest of the academic team on March 24 and 25 bringing Seminole’s total to 310.5 points, putting Seminole in third behind Cooper and Andrews.

In news writing, freshman Eva Neufeld in fourth and junior Dania Blankenburg in sixth.

In persuasive speaking, senior Shawn Barndollar in first, junior Abe Harder in second and Hatley in third.

In poetry interpretation, Hatley in first, senior Christian Tovar in second and senior Dakota Crump in fifth.

In prose interpretation, Childers in first and senior Alexis Hastings in fourth.

In ready writing, senior Lyle Reimer in first.

In science, junior Zack Murphy was sixth in a tie for the top physics score.

In speech, the Seminole team was the first place team with 157 overall points.
