UIL academic team competes in Andrews meet

Searching for knowledge--Junior Dexter Longley, sophomore Blue Franklin, senior Ed Velo and senior Matt Flowers study before their academic events in Andrews on Jan. 14. Velo took third place in the science competition.

The UIL academic team competed in Andrews on Jan. 14.

In science the Seminole team took second place overall behind 5A Lubbock High with senior Ed Velo taking fifth overall.

In the freshman science division, Miranda Freeman was ninth. In the junior division, Ashley Blair was fourth, Elijah Becker was sixth and Dexter Longley was seventh. In the senior division, Velo was third.

In literary criticism Maggie Teichroeb was fourth.

In calculator applications senior Lindsey Ivins was eighth in the 12th grade division.

In newswriting junior Aimee Krahn was sixth.

In feature writing junior Crystal Fehr was fifth.

In headline writing Fehr was sixth.

In the mathematics ninth grade division, Freeman was eighth. In the sophomore division, Zack Murphy was seventh. In the junior division Blair was fifth, Becker was eighth and Longley was ninth.
