BRACKETOLOGY: Sports editor in lead going into Sweet Sixteen

Four editors take the NCAA bracket challenge with four diverse methods.

SPORTS EDITOR WINS CHALLENGE

Can the winner of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament be picked through knowledge of the sport or by some random selection process? Four editors have decided to duke it out for supremacy of selection in a variety of ways.

Senior Sports Editor Blue Franklin leads the Bracketology Challenge with 460 points. He is in the 93.8 percentile with 1,200 points still possible as long as Louisville and Michigan State stay alive.

Junior Op-Ed Editor Sarah Patterson who used a coin flip to decide her bracket is in second with 240 points. Although she is in the 1.5 percentile, she still has 640 points available as long as Baylor wins out.

Junior Features Editor Arin Hindman, who let her cats decide the bracket, has 210 points and is in the 1 percentile. Although there are still 40 points available in her bracket, she has no chance since her final two teams (Ohio and Texas) have already lost.

Junior News Editor Jasmine Sierra, who made her selections based on color and mascot, has no chance for anymore points and is in the .9 percentile since her championship teams (Pittsburgh and Kansas State) have lost already.

Each bracket is available above.  The contest will be updated each Monday so you can see which method is ahead.
