Editor in Chief – Maggie Teichroeb

My name is Maggie May Teichroeb. May…Yes, there is a song by some old guy that has my name in it. I don’t think my parents even knew about this, but now I am fortuitous enough to have a name that people describe as “cute”. Every year, there’s a teacher who asks, “Maggie May? Is that really your name? Isn’t that a Rod Stewart song?” Just lovely.

I took on journalism my freshman year because I really liked the idea of working on a newspaper staff. I was into watching Gilmore Girls reruns at the time. I didn’t regret joining until my sophomore year when I was actually on the newspaper/yearbook staffs, and I actually had to do some of the work that I now dread. I guess you can say I feel slightly obligated to Ms. Williamson, and that’s why I stay. In all honesty, though, I like being a part of it all, and I like Ms. Williamson. It doesn’t hurt that she thinks I’m good enough to be an editor.

Angela Sims – Features Editor

I was just a little freshman girl when I first found myself in Room 410 during ninth period. I was accidentally placed in Ms. Williamson’s Journalism I class. It was pretty much the craziest place I had ever been. Now, as a senior, I couldn’t think of a better place to call home. I am here every day, three times a day, and it will never get old.

Visual Editor – Allison Reimer

I’m the twin of a 6’7″, blonde-headed boy named Taran (one person said we looked alike. I guess I grew a little–a lot– this summer…?) I am American, but my innards tell me I’m Canadian. And to prove it: Shaun White is THE greatest snowboarder known to mankind. Wayne Gretzky is the god of hockey…He is the almighty Great One. The opening to the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games was the bee’s knees and the cat’s meow. Some people catch me saying “eh” at the end of some phrases. I never really noticed, but I guess I do, eh? So anyway, I’ve got this giant twin, I’m a Canadian wanna-be, I am the cartoonist for the newspaper (I even won a national award last year! OMG). Ms. Williamson and I have a love/hate relationship (We’ve gotten to know each other well) and…If drawing for more than three hours a day were illegal, my lifespan would be cut by 147 hours a week–I’m a criminal. I apparently like “death metal” because four-wheeling is just that awesome.

Aimee Krahn–Staff Writer

Most people seem to think I’m always smiling, but I know I’m not. I prefer not to have homework because not having any saves me tons of brain power. Writing for the War Whoop takes a lot of energy which uses up my brain power. Hopefully my power level grows in time.

Crystal Fehr–Sports Editor

Hola, I’m Crystal and j’aime (I love) to write. I like to be a little crazy sometimes, but I try to keep my focus. I try not to wait for forever in case forever never comes; in other words, why wait? I somehow found myself in Room 410, and I’m here to keep writing.=)

Jack Cagle–Photographer and Columnist

“If you saw a man drowning, and you could either save him or photograph the event…what kind of film would you use?”

Photography to me is capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments for everyone to see.

Isabell Resendez–Photo Editor

My name is Maria Isabell Resendez, but do not call me Maria; I won’t respond. It’s Isabell. My favorite color is pink. If I could be an animal, I would be a duck. A duck can fly, swim and walk on land…best animal ever. I love chocolate, and I don’t eat red meat! This is my second and last year at Seminole High. Photography can be enjoyed by everyone. It’s universal; that’s why I love it so much. =)

Arthur Moralez–Photographer

My name is Arthur, but you can call me A-Crazy. It’s my rapper name. I like to write my own rap lyrics and do all kinds of sports, but I spend most of my time listening to and making music. My favorite rappers are Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj. My favorite color is red, and that’s about all you need to know except that I will come out with my own mix tape soon.

Naomi Garcia–Staff Writer and Photographer

Photography to me is something fun and creative. It lets the viewers see the world through my eyes. sometimes you really don’t notice what you capture until you view the pictures. Some may be hilarious, sad, angry or just calm. Other than that photography is something fun and easy. Everyone would enjoy carrying around a camera and taking snapshots.

Luckee Gonzales–Photographer

I like photography because it is a fun hobby. It also helps me clear my mind of things. When I am at home and get bored, I just go outside and start taking pictures of anything I think looks good or interesting. I took the class because my dream is to become a professional photographer when I get older. I am glad the class will teach me what I need to know to help me become a photographer.

Brenda Reimer — Staff Writer

A lot of people call me Red, a nickname I acquired due to my hair. I love playing piano as my pastime. I have a crazy imagination for stories which is probably why Ms. Williamson has me write for the newspaper. =) I can be a fun person to be around, and that’s it….yep.

Blue Franklin — Staff Writer

Wake up, eat, go to school, play basketball, eat again, sing, write, go home, eat again, play Xbox, sleep…that’s all you need to know.

Matraca Penner — Staff Writer

It is pronounced Muh-tray-suh! I have four fingers on each hand and five toes on each foot. Music is my passion, and I get a kick out of watching scary movies. I love laughing, and I am Aimee Krahn’s biggest fan. In conclusion, I am awesome.

D.J. Rickman — Staff Writer

I am 17 years old and a senior. I write my name on things as David, but people call me D.J. I play baseball and I am in theater, speech and debate. I got into this class because I needed a technology credit and desktop publishing sounded a lot more fun than BIM. I write columns about sports and am starting to do layouts.

Myka Warlick — Staff Writer

I’m a junior and a cheerleader. I am in desktop publishing and work for the newspaper and the yearbook.

Lavinia Bergmann — Statistician

The life of a sports statistician: Learning, learning, learning…and when there are some minutes left during the period, learning has priority again. For me, as a foreign exchange student it cause a lot of problems when I faced the different sport system in the U.S. Even so, I am glad to have this job. It gives me the opportunity to experience the magic of American sports by myself, to learn more about the rules during every game and to find out what the school spirit is based on. Being a part of this awesome staff makes me proud. To work with unique people is fun and never boring.

I not only get the opportunity to learn more about what is very important in the U.S.–sports. I also met a lot of wonderful people who always try to help me when I am stuck in some situations.

Now, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me during the time I have been here.

Ashley Alvidrez — Photographer

To me photography is something easy and fun to do. I love taking pictures. Capturing the way things happen amazes me. Our memories will stay forever because of photography.

Camila Concha — Photographer

To me, photography is a way to capture all the things that happen and to show it to the world. Thanks to this, we can keep the situations or experiences in everybody’s memory.

Heidi Klassen — Photographer

To me photography is a way to express myself.

Susie Rempel — Photographer

To me photography is a way to tell a story.

Savannah Villalva — Photographer

To me photography is a great hobby that I really enjoy because I can learn and have fun at the same time. It is also something that can always keep me busy and entertained.

We really are a serious group when we aren’t having fun. We took a bronze star with the print edition last year in its first year back, and now we have entered this online edition in contest and taken an Award of Distinguished Merit from the UIL journalism division (ILPC). Going online…this seemed the natural thing to do since the world works through the Internet these days…this task, however, is never as easy as it looks…so please forgive us as we continue to update our WORK IN PROGRESS.
